Turmeric Latte


No winter warmer is better than a warm glass of Golden Milk or Turmeric Latte… Not only is this drink delicious, it also has numerous health benefits. This age old Ayurvedic drink is excellent and very easy to make. I make sure my daughter drinks this magic drink every single day in winter and she absolutely loves it

Turmeric is used in Indian cooking since ages. Traditionally, the turmeric roots were used in cooking, but the modern cooking incorporates turmeric powder which is easier to handle and use.

Ingredients:

Milk – 1 cup
Turmeric root – 1 inch or 1 tsp turmeric powder
Peppercorns – 4-5
Honey – 1 tsp
Water – ½ cup

Method:

  1. Boil milk and water in a sauce pan
  2. If using turmeric root, crush it in a mortar pestle
  3. Add the crushed turmeric or turmeric powder along with peppercorns to the milk
  4. Simmer for 15 minutes
  5. Turn off the heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes
  6. Sieve the milk and stir in honey
  7. Serve warm

Notes:

  • For a vegan option, substitute milk with coconut or almond milk and honey with jaggery or palm sugar
  • You can add crushed pepper instead of whole peppercorns
