Lamb Mince Pizza

Pizza is our family favourite. And I absolutely love experimenting with pizzas. I have posted earlier a variety of fusion pizza – kadai paneer pizza, eggplant-feta pizza and also gluten free eggplant pizza. This time I wanted to try something with meat and what better choice than succulent lamb mince.

To make this pizza, I cooked lamb mince in the Indian keema masala style, but with a slight difference. I added more tomato than I usually would, so that it can act as a pizza sauce too. The base, other toppings and of course cheese are similar to my other recipes. But this pizza tastes so different and flavourful, it was an instant hit with my family.

I am sure we all have an idea of what a perfect pizza should be like. Try this totally delicious pizza and I am sure this one will be close enough!

Ingredients:

For Pizza Base:

All purpose flour – 2 cup
Dry yeast – 2 tsp
Sugar – 1 tsp
Olive oil – 2 tbsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Milk powder – 1 tsp
Warm water  – ¾ cup approximately

For Lamb mince topping:

Lamb mice – 500 grams
Oil – 3 tbsp
Onion – 1 large, thinly sliced
Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Tomato puree – 1 cup (more tomato is needed as it acts as the pizza sauce too)
Tumeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tbsp
Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp or as per taste
Garam masala – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste

Other toppings:

Zucchinni, cut into round thin slices
Bell pepper (I used a mix of red, yellow and green)
Mozzarella cheese

Method:

To make the dough:

  1. Combine flour, salt, yeast, sugar, milk powder together in a large bowl
  2. Add oil and water and knead into a soft dough
  3. Cover with a cling wrap. Let the dough rest in a warm place for 30 minutes or until it is double in size
  4. Place the dough on a lightly dusted surface and knead again for 2-3 minutes
  5. Divide into 4 balls, cover with a cling wrap and rest again for 10 minutes
  6. Roll each ball into a circle, place on a baking tray and prick with a fork. Let it sit for another 5 minutes

To make the lamb mince topping:

  1. Heat a fry pan or kadhai and add oil. Add onion slices and fry until the onion is golden brown
  2. Add ginger paste, garlic paste and fry for another minute until the raw smell goes away
  3. Add tomato puree and mix well. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and salt to taste
  4. Mix and let it simmer until the tomatoes cook and oil separates
  5. Add the lamb mince and mix well
  6. Simmer and cook until the lamb is completely done (about 10-12 minutes)
  7. Add garam masala and mix well
  8. Turn off the flame and set aside

To make the pizza:

  1. Preheat oven at 200 deg C
  2. Spread the lamb mince evenly over the pizza base
  3. Spread zucchinni slice and chopped bell peppers
  4. Top with mozzarella cheese
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese bubbles
  6. Slice and serve hot
