Paneer Puff

Paneer puffs are crispy, flaky, savoury puff pastries with a flavourful cottage cheese filling. A perfect tea time snack. Back in India, these goodies are one of the most popular tea time snack available in almost all bakeries. I loved vegetable puff as a kid, which was nothing but puff pastries filled with a spicy vegetable filling. But these delicious savoury puffs are not available in stores outside India. But easily available are the ready to use frozen puff pastry sheets, and with them, making these paneer puffs are super easy. I have never tried making puff pastry sheets at home. The store bought ones are simple to use and so flaky and crispy once baked.

Paneer puffs are a great party snack too. Kids absolutely love them. Bake them before hand and just reheat them in an oven while serving. Crispy, flaky texture with delicious filling is definitely a party pleaser.

Prepare these delicious golden treats at home for a perfect tea time snack.

Coriander leaves for garnish

Method:

  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheets as per the packet instructions
  2. Cut the paneer into small cubes and set aside

  4. Add the capsicum, salt, cumin powder, coriander power and red chilli powder. Saute for 1-2 minutes
  5. Add paneer cubes, garam masala, amchur and mix gently. Take care not to break the paneer pieces
  6. Saute for 1-2 minutes and turn off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves

  8. Cut the puff pastry sheet into 4 squares
  9. Fill 1-2 tbsp of the filling in each sheet. Apply water on the edges and seal it completely
  10. Gently press the ends with a fork. Repeat with the remaining sheets
