Adai dosa or ade dose is a healthy, protein-rich, low GI, power-packed savoury crepes that is absolutely delicious. These vegan, gluten-free crepes are made mainly with lentils which are a powerhouse of nutrition. Adai dose is rich in vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, and is a great non-meat source of protein.
Adai dosa is made with a combination of four types of dal (lentils) and rice. Chana dal (Bengal gram), urad dal (black gram), toor dal (pigeon pea) and moong dal (yellow lentils) are soaked in equal proportions along with little rice. The ground batter is seasoned and cooked similar to crepes.
To make this dish, I soak four types of lentils with some rice overnight. I then grind it into a batter, add onions, coriander leaves, and make dosas or crepes with it. It doesn’t need fermentation, unlike the regular dosa. In saying that, I have tried fermentation of this batter and it turned out exceptionally well.
