Chia seeds are considered a superfood containing an amazing variety of nutrients while at the same time has very few calories. They are an excellent source of omega 3, antioxidants, high quality protein, beneficial fibre, calcium and other essential minerals and vitamins. They are great replacement for eggs in baking. I have replaced them in cookies and cakes and they work so well. And adds a great nutty taste to them too. Try them next time you are baking and I am sure you will love it.
To replace 1 egg, you will need:
- Chia seeds – 1 tbsp
- Water – 3 tbsp
- Whisk the chia seeds and water well. Let it sit for 15 minutes
- Whisk again once the chia seeds have soaked up all the water. The texture will be slightly gooey like a whisked egg
- Chia egg is ready to be used as an egg replacement
