Ingredients and variations

Milk: I use whole milk to make golden milk. If you prefer making a vegan version, you may replace it with almond milk. However, take care not to not to boil the almond milk like regular milk.
Turmeric powder: Traditionally, turmeric root is used to make golden milk. However, I am using turmeric powder. If you use turmeric roots, let it steep in the milk for at least 5 minutes.
Black pepper: I use crushed black pepper here.
Honey: Golden milk is sweetened with honey. For a vegan version, replace honey with jaggery or raw sugar.
All you need to do is simmer milk, turmeric, and pepper for a few minutes, mix honey and serve. If you prefer dairy-free milk, you can replace milk with almond milk. But make sure you don't boil almond milk. Just heat it in a saucepan until it is very hot but not boiling, add turmeric and let it steep. Then mix in honey and serve. Homemade almond milk works best for this.
