Lau dal– mung dal cooked with bottlegourd
Bandhakopi torkari– cabbage cooked in Bengali style
Begun bhaja – eggplant slices rubbed with salt and turmeric, and shallow fried
Kachumber salad. This is our favourite salad. Chopped cucumber, tomatoes, onion in lemon juice, salt, chilli powder dressing
Boondi raita – whisked yogurt mixed with boondi or tiny fried gram flour balls
Rice and roti
Shavige payasa – or vermicelli pudding in which I have added a bit of soaked and boiled sago
