Ragi (Finger Millet) is gluten-free and has numerous health benefits. Ragi Idli is a great alternative to regular Idlis which is made with rice.


Ingredients  1½ cups ragi (finger millet) ½ cup urad dal (skinned black gram)  1 tsp methi (fenugreek seeds)  ¼ cup thick poha (flattened rice)

Soak Ragi, Urad Dal separately for 4-5 hours. Soak poha for 1 hour

Grind Urad dal into a smooth batter with little water 

Add poha and ragi

Grind into a coarse batter

Ferment for 8-10 hours

Batter after fermentation

Add salt and mix gently

Lightly grease the idli plates with some oil. Spoon in the batter about ¾ of the mould

Place the mould alternatingly so that there is enough room for the idli to rise

Place in the steamer and steam for 15 minutes on low heat.
