Raw Mango Dal


Ingredients 1 cup toor dal 1½ cup raw mango (peeled, seed removed and cubed) 1-2 green chilli 1 teaspoon turmeric powder Salt to taste For tempering 2 tablespoon ghee 1 teaspoon mustard seeds ½ teaspoon cumin seeds 2 dry red chilli ½ teaspoon hing 1-2 cloves garlic sliced 8-10 curry leaves

Place toor dal, green mango, green chilli, and turmeric powder in a pressure cooker

Add 2½ cups of water and give it a mix

Pressure cook until the dal is well cooked

Lightly mash the dal and add salt

Add some water and adjust the consistency. Simmer for 5-6 minutes

Prepare tempering: heat ghee in a small pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add dry red chilli and cumin seeds. Add garlic and saute until the garlic is golden. Add hing and curry leaves and fry briefly

Add this tempering to the dal

Enjoy with steamed rice and lots of ghee
