For Pizza Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2-3 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 cup passata (or tomato puree)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • A few leaves of fresh basil and oregano (alternatively you can use dried herbs)

For Pizza Dosa

  • 2 cups dosa batter see notes
  • ½ cup capsicum sliced, I used a mix of red and green
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • ¼ cup pineapple chopped
  • ½ cup mozzeralla cheese or as needed
  • Butter to fry the dosa

To make the pizza sauce:

  • Heat butter in a pan and add garlic. Saute for 1-2 minutes
  • Add passata and mix well
  • Add fresh herbs and let it simmer until the sauce thickens
  • Pizza sauce is ready

To make pizza dosa:

  • Heat a tawa/griddle until it is hot. Turn the flame to medium. Lightly grease the tawa and wipe off excess oil using a kitchen towel. Sprinkle few drops of water on to the tawa and let it evaporate
  • Take a ladle full of batter and pour it in the centre of the tawa. Using the ladle or a small bowl gently spread the batter in a circular motion. Don’t spread the batter very thin
  • Add butter onto the dosa
  • Add pizza sauce and spread it evenly
  • Add the toppings followed by cheese
  • Let the cheese melt (takes about a minute)
  • Carefully lift the dosa from the tawa and serve hot
