Garlic Bread

Garlic bread sticks are easy to make bread sticks topped with garlic, aromatic herbs, and loads of cheese. They are great appetisers, but pair it with tomato soup for a perfect dinner option.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup water approximately
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 3-4 tbsp butter at room temperature
  • 3-4 cloves garlic grated
  • 1 tbsp Italian herbs
  • A few basil leaves roughly chopped (optional)
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese you may increase or decrease it as per your liking

Instructions
 

  • Heat the milk until it is warm. Add yeast and sugar and mix well. Let it sit for 5-6 minutes until it becomes frothy
  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt together. Add oil and milk-yeast mixture
  • Gradually add water and combine the dough
  • Transfer onto a flat surface and knead it until the dough is soft, smooth and pliable (8-10 minutes)
  • Cover the bowl with a cling wrap and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour. The dough will be almost double in size after resting
  • In a small bowl, combine butter, garlic, mixed herbs, and basil leaves
  • Preheat oven at 180℃
  • Once the dough is rested, punch it to remove the trapped air. Knead again for 2-3 minutes
  • Spread the dough onto a baking tray in an oval shape
  • Spread the butter mixture all over it. Top it with mozzarella cheese
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes
  • Turn the oven to grill mode and bake it for another 2-3 minutes until the top becomes golden and starts to bubble. Keep a close watch at this stage as it tends to burn quickly
  • Take it out of the oven once done, slice and serve
